Mr. Ni has over 12 years of experience in intellectual property, with substantial experience on both the in-house and private practice sides. With dual backgrounds in engineering and law, as well as prior R&D experience as an electronics engineer, he brings a strong combination of technical insight and legal expertise to complex intellectual property matters. His career includes positions at leading Chinese enterprises, and leading Chinese law firms. Mr. Ni has led and participated in major intellectual property disputes involving an aggregate amount in controversy exceeding RMB 360 million, has advised multiple technology companies as legal counsel, and has led a number of complex patent portfolio development projects.

Represented the plaintiffs and prevailed; the non-infringement action was selected as one of the Suzhou Intermediate Court’s Top 10 IP Cases. Also represented Tineco/Ecovacs as defendants in 12 IP matters, prevailing in all;
Bissell (U.S.) v. Tineco, U.S. ITC Section 337 investigation involving five patents and the U.S. market worth over RMB 2 billion; represented the respondent and prevailed in the final determination;
CALB v. CATL, patent enforcement and invalidation matters concerning the Kirin battery, one of the highest-value patent series disputes in China; dispute resolved successfully;
Johnson & Johnson v. Fenghe Medical, stapler patent infringement case with an amount in disputeof RMB 150 million; reduced exposure by 90% at first instance;
Murata (Japan) v. Haoda Electronics, patent invalidation and infringement litigation concerning mobile-phone filter invention patents, involving a STAR Market IPO challenge; represented the defendant, secured full invalidation of the patents, and prevailed;
SEKISUI (Japan) v. Suzhou Xinguangyi, patent invalidation, administrative adjudication, and infringement litigation concerning FPC lamination film invention patents, involving a ChiNext IPO challenge; represented the defendant, secured full invalidation of the patents, and prevailed;
Represented SKG in defending a massager invention patent infringement action brought by Breo, and prevailed;
Represented Zhongshan Meige in civil and criminal trade secret infringement matters and patent infringement litigation brought by Galanz.
IP Non-Litigation
Negotiated technology development and patent licensing between Shenzhen S Company and Novozymes (Denmark), successfully securing an exclusive license;
Handled STAR Market / ChiNext IPO inquiry responses and FTO analyses for Haoda Electronics, Xinguangyi, and Delijia; all successfully passed review;
GCL Technology intellectual property system development and trade secret protection project;
ChiNext-listed Company C’s due diligence project for the acquisition of a Korean company’s mini LED patent assets;
At the 133rd Canton Fair, successfully took down five allegedly infringing products/promotional materials for Ecovacs and Tineco;
FTO projects relating to acoustic wave filters, 5G RF systems, mRNA vaccine materials, wind-measurement LiDAR, lithium-battery current collectors, nano-encapsulated enzymes, release films, frameless wiper blades, and wind-turbine gearboxes;
Represented petitioners including Tineco, Ecovacs, and Maketu in 11 patent invalidation actions, all successful; represented Tineco as patentee in three invalidation actions, with all patents maintained. Three matters were selected for the CNIPA’s “Key Points of Typical Reexamination and Invalidation Decisions 2023”.
